‘A’ and ‘an’ are indefinite articles. ‘A’ is used before singular countable nouns that begins with a consonant or those having a consonant sound.

An is use before singular countable nouns that begins with a vowel and those with a silent ‘h’

‘The’ is a definite article it is used before plural nouns, mountain, river, seas ad groups of island names, unique common nouns and nouns used to represent the whole.
