important parts of speech that we have in language. Without adjective you
cannot describe any noun or you cannot praise or blame any person, animal or
thing. Means most important is, these
adjectives help us to differentiate between good and bad thing.

Adjectives: Modify nouns and pronouns
Describing words are called Adjectives.
An adjective is a word that modifies a noun or pronoun. In general,
adjectives usually give us more information about noun or pronoun by describing
it or providing additional information about it. So by adding an adjective, you
qualify or add to the meaning of a noun.
Adjectives are an important form of
descriptive writing. They provide vital details that help reader’s
visualization and understand the writing. They make your writing and speaking
much ore specific. These adjectives mostly help to make writing more interesting,
although they should be used with care and not with each and every noun.
Adjectives play very important role in English
language. Following things can be consider about importance of adjectives.

noun. It points out what is the noun is all about.
2. It also tells some descriptive
idea of the same noun so that we can find out the exact meaning and status of
particular article.

In the above sentence boy is a noun.
And the word happy describes the word boy, how is the boy? The boy is happy.
Means, happy describes the noun boy.
So happy is the adjective.

In this sentence girl and hair are
nouns, but the noun hair is only described as curly. So curly is an adjective.
3. Raju is a clever boy.
In the above sentence Raju and boy are nouns. But the noun
boy only modified as a clever boy.
In the above three sentences the
adjectives are easy to identify as they come immediately before the nouns they
modify.

adjective is a part of speech which modifies the noun or pronoun. In
accumulation to their basic forms (for example, big and beautiful), most adjectives have
two other forms: comparative (bigger and more beautiful)
and superlative (biggest and most beautiful). Adjectives
often—but not forever—serve as modifiers, as long
as additional information about another word or word group, such as a noun or
noun phrase. Except adjectives can also themselves perform as nouns
in a sentence.

1. Adjectives of Numbers:
An adjective which expresses the number of
persons or things is called Adjective of
number. This is also called as Numeral Adjectives.
These adjectives of quantity may
express a definite number like three, five or twenty. Definite numeral
adjectives show exact number. You may
include among them those adjectives which show the order in a series, as first,
second, third etc.

2. Distributive numeral adjectives
This refers to each one of a number.

3. Adjectives of quantity.
Adjectives of quantity tell about ‘How much’.
They are used with uncountable nouns i.e. Material and Abstract Nouns.

4. Adjective of Quality:
Adjectives that tell us of what kind
of a person or thing is, are called Adjectives of Quality. Hence it describes a
person, animal, place or thing. They are also called as Descriptive Adjectives.
Adjectives of quality answer the question “ of what kind?”
Look at the following examples, the
words in bold letter are adjectives of Quality.

5. Demonstrative Adjective:
The Demonstrative adjectives are
this, that, these, those. They are used to indicate or point out specific

The adjectives used with nouns to
ask questions are called Interrogative
Adjectives.

The possessive adjectives show
possession and always followed by noun.

Coordinative Adjective
Two or more adjectives work together to modify the
same noun is called as Coordinative Adjective. They are separated by word ‘and’
or separated with commas.
Using the multiple adjective to describe the same
noun creates an adjective phrase.

Cumulative adjectives
Cumulative adjectives are the same like coordinative
adjective. They work together to modify the same nun but there is no need of
and word or comma to separate them

Proper Adjectives
Proper Adjective refers to specific noun. They must
be capitalized.

are Proper Adjectives

9. Predicative Adjective
The adjectives which appear after linking verb and
modify the subject of the sentence are known as predicative adjective. These
predicative adjectives also known as subject or object complement.
If you
identify the linking verb ion the sentence it is very easy to identify the
predicative adjective. Adjective means
usually appear before noun but these predicative adjectives don’t appear
exactly before noun or pronoun. These predicative adjectives modify the subject
of a sentence and are linked to the subject by linking verb.

Attributive adjective
Adjectives which directly use before the noun is
known as attributive adjectives. These adjectives attribute the quality to a
noun they modify. They are not separated from noun by linking verb.
