Among all
festivals diwali is very important festival. Is cannot be accomplished by any
other festival. This festival is celebrated on the day of kartik’s new moon.
This is the festival of lights. It is celebrated by people of almost all
religions of India in one or other form.
It is
believed that on this day Shri Ram returned to Ayodhya with his brother Laxman
and wife Seeta after 14 years of exile. This festival is a symbol of happiness,
gaiety and triumph because remembering it comes in this background, inspires us
to be ideal brother and ideal friend. According to the mythology Goddess Laxmi
had appeared on this day at the time of Samudra Manthan. [When Ocean churned]
worshipping the goddess, this festival became a symbol of economic prosperity. For
businessmen worship of Laxmi is more prestigious festival. Businessmen clear
all last year accounts and starts new accounts. In many places throughout the
night, the doors of the houses seem open for the arrival and welcome of Laxmi.
Importance
of diwali is not limited to religious and cultural boundries, but it is of
economic importance. India is a country which is agriculturally dominant.
Before this diwali festival during rainy season the places become dirty, after
cleaning it grains are stored then sweets are distributed in the form of
jaggery.
Before this
diwali festival all people cleans their houses, cleans each and every corner in
the house. This results to eliminate
kingdom of filth and mosquitoes and prevents the diseases like malaria.
At the time
of Diwali celebration, you can observe lots of sweets and toys shops, decorated
lamps and many new gifts arrived in the market. Market is full with different
verities of things. People distribute sweets and gifts to their relatives and
friends with best wishes. People try to forget mutual estrangement.
Although
diwali festival has many virtues some people also added demerits to it. On this
day some people play gambling games, they believe that if they win on this
day the blessings of goddess Lakshmi
will remain for the whole year. But many houses ruined by this malpractices and
many people are buried under the burden of debt. In the same way thieves and
thugs also have such belief they consider it is auspicious to steal on this
festival to get success. But this is not a good at all; they should leave this
evil thought.
Celebration
of Diwali is one economic and progress indicator, it is a symbol of prosperity
of nation. Malpracticing of gambling and theft should be forbid and Diwali
ought to celebrate with much sacred manner.
