Introduction

Noun is very basic element in English Grammar. From pre- primary to 12th class everyone look for nouns in English grammar.  Every English grammar learner check for nouns which in one of the parts of speech in English Grammar.

In simple words we can say, Noun means naming words. 

Definition: A Noun is the name of a person, animal, thing or place.

1. Name of person:  

        Hari, Geeta,Anil, Rajesh ,Julie, Ram, krishna, 

2. Name of animals : 

        Lion🦁, zebra🦓, 🦄horse,🐈cat, 🐄pig, 🐂cow, 🐍snake, 🦋butterfly, 🐟fish, 🐧penguin, 🦆duck...these all kinds of animal's names  ,bird's names are  called nouns .

3. Names of things : 🏏bat , 🏍bike, 🎄tree 🎁gift, 🎲dice, 🍡candy,🎂cake, 🔪knife, 🚐 car, ⏰ clock.

4. Name of place: 

🏖beach, 🏫 banglow, 🏢school, 🏥hospital,bank🏦, house🏡, church💒, tent⛺, temple🕍, hotel or any place name , city name, village name, country name falls under the term noun.

● Observe the following sentence . The words written in bold letters are nouns. 

1. Hari is very tall.

Hari is name of a person/ boy.

2. Kolkata  is very big city.

Kolkata is name of a city. And city is also comes under noun category.

3 . I have a dog. It's name is Hello.

Dog is name of an animal. And Hello is name of that dog so bothe are nouns. 

4. Rahul play cricket every day.

Rahul is name of a person and cricket is name of a game.

5. Soniya works in a bank. 

In this sentence Soniya is name of a person / girl and bank is a name of a place.

On the other hand , Nouns can also name things, although sometimes they might be vague or very unclear things, such as concepts, activities, or processes or ideas . Some might even be hypothetical or imaginary things. Means the things that we can't touch or see.... only we have to feel that things. 

For example--

Concepts - words that express unclear concepts represent abstract noun. Examples include bravery, faith,  or satisfaction.

• Ideas - Terms that name intangible ideas are abstract nouns. Examples include things like destiny, loyalty, freedom 
• Emotions - Words that express feeling are abstract nouns. For example, a person can feel love for another person. A person can feel happiness, pity  or sadness
